Liberia’s National Elections Commission launched its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan at its Monrovia headquarters on 2 September, according to a UNDP statement. The plan sets out the commission’s institutional direction as it prepares for the 2029 general and presidential elections.

UNDP says the plan followed consultations with commission staff, political parties, civil society and development partners. It was developed with support from the Liberia Electoral Support Project, backed by the European Union, Irish Aid and Sweden.

What citizens should know

Discussions at the launch included voter education, disability inclusion, gender equality and campaign-finance oversight. This is a planning announcement, not a voter-registration notice or a new polling timetable. Check the NEC’s official website for election instructions.
