Four House of Representatives by-elections were held on 16 November 2021 in Bomi County District 1, Bong County District 2, Grand Gedeh County District 1 and Nimba County District 1.
Why the elections were held
The contests filled four House vacancies after the previous representatives won Senate seats in the 2020 Special Senatorial Election. The NEC issued the writs on 6 September 2021, conducted candidate nominations in September, and opened the campaign period from 15 October through 14 November.
Declared winners
- Bomi County District 1: Finda Gborie Lansanah, independent — 3,945 votes (42.2%).
- Bong County District 2: James M. Kolleh, People’s Unification Party.
- Grand Gedeh County District 1: Erol Madison Gwion, Liberia Restoration Party.
- Nimba County District 1: Samuel N. Brown Sr., independent — 6,594 votes (55%).
Certification chronology
The NEC certificated Lansanah and Brown on 1 December 2021. Gwion was certificated on 14 December after the Grand Gedeh complaint process. Certification of Bong District 2 was delayed by litigation; following a Supreme Court mandate, the NEC certificated Kolleh on 4 February 2022.
