Two House of Representatives by-elections were held on 8 December 2020 in Montserrado County Electoral District 9 and Sinoe County Electoral District 2. They took place alongside the Special Senatorial Election and constitutional referendum.
Why the elections were held
The seats became vacant following the deaths of Montserrado District 9 Representative Munah Pelham-Youngblood on 8 July 2020 and Sinoe District 2 Representative J. Nagbe Sloh on 30 June 2020.
Results
- Montserrado County District 9: Frank Saah Foko Jr. of the Coalition for Democratic Change won 8,650 votes (33.92%) from 25,502 valid votes. His nearest rival, Fubbi Franklin Armah Henries of the Collaborating Political Parties, received 8,542 votes (33.50%).
- Sinoe County District 2: Samson Quejue Wiah of the Coalition for Democratic Change won 1,789 votes from 7,517 valid votes.
Certification chronology
The NEC declared the winners in December 2020. A complaint challenged the Montserrado District 9 result; the NEC Board later reaffirmed Foko’s victory. Foko was certificated on 8 March 2021, while Wiah was certificated on 6 April 2021.
