Liberia’s 2014 Special Senatorial Election
Liberia held a special senatorial election on 20 December 2014 to fill one of the two Senate seats in each of the country’s 15 counties. The election had originally been scheduled for 14 October but was postponed during the Ebola epidemic.

- Registered voters: 1,903,229.
- Votes cast: 479,936.
- National turnout: 25.2%.
- Seats contested: 15 of the Senate’s 30 seats.

Political outcome
No party won a Senate majority. The Unity Party won four of the 15 seats at stake; the Congress for Democratic Change and Liberty Party each won two. Four other parties won one seat apiece, and three independent candidates were elected.
Only two of the 12 outgoing senators seeking re-election retained their seats. In Montserrado, George Weah won 99,226 votes—78.0% of valid votes—defeating independent candidate Robert Sirleaf, who received 13,692 votes.
