A Senate vacancy in Gbarpolu County
Gbarpolu County held a senatorial by-election after the death of Senator Samuel Sumo Tormetie of the National Reformation Party. The first round took place on 4 December 2007 and a runoff followed on 18 December.
Runoff result
J. S. B. Theodore Momo of the Unity Party defeated independent candidate A. Kanie Wesso and was elected to the Liberian Senate.
Contemporaneous United Nations Mission in Liberia media summaries reported that the National Elections Commission declared Momo the winner. The result was covered by several Liberian newspapers, including the Daily Observer, New Democrat, The Inquirer, Heritage, The Analyst and Liberian Express.
