A House vacancy in Margibi County
Margibi County Electoral District 2 held a representative by-election after the death of Unity Party Representative Ansu Washington Lackie. The first round took place on 29 August 2006, followed by a runoff on 12 September.
First-round result
Ben A. Fofana of the Unity Party led with 2,869 votes (45.15%). Kollie Sorsor Jallah of the Congress for Democratic Change placed second with 1,542 (24.27%). Edwin Woryonwon Harris, an independent, received 1,126 (17.72%), while Zoe Gougou Willie of the Liberty Party received 817 (12.86%).
The first round recorded 6,354 valid votes and 108 invalid or blank ballots, for 6,462 ballots cast. Because no candidate reached an absolute majority, Fofana and Jallah advanced to the runoff.
Runoff — 12 September
Kollie Sorsor Jallah of the Congress for Democratic Change won with 4,199 votes (52.0%). Ben A. Fofana of the Unity Party received 3,879 votes (48.0%).
All 53 polling places reported. The NEC recorded 8,078 valid votes and 128 invalid ballots, for 8,206 ballots cast.
