Artists work across hip-co, gbema, gospel, Afropop, rap, reggae, highlife, R&B, spoken word, comedy, theatre, and other forms. Producers, DJs, dancers, promoters, broadcasters, and audiences are part of the creative economy.
Film, radio, and storytelling
Radio remains influential in news, education, drama, music, and public conversation. Filmmakers, photographers, writers, podcasters, and online creators document Liberian life and connect local stories to wider audiences.
Fashion and design
Designers combine country cloth, printed textiles, tailoring, streetwear, formal dress, graphics, and international influences. Fashion can be commercial, political, commemorative, or deeply personal.
Sport and shared identity
Football is a major field of popular culture, alongside basketball, athletics, kickball, traditional games, and other sports. Competitions create local pride, national symbols, careers, and diaspora connections.
The diaspora
Liberian communities across West Africa, North America, Europe, and elsewhere sustain family ties, associations, businesses, media, worship, festivals, political participation, and remittances. Diaspora culture is not simply preserved tradition; it also generates new Liberian identities.

Social platforms allow rapid creativity and civic participation but can also spread misinformation, harassment, and uncredited work. Ethical documentation requires creator credit, consent, copyright awareness, and verification.
