2010 River Gee County District 3 By-Election

A two-round representative contest

River Gee County Electoral District 3 held a House by-election on 20 July 2010 after the death of Representative Albert S. Toe on 14 April. Four candidates contested the vacant seat.

First round — 20 July

Christian Snorteh Chea of the Unity Party led with 1,022 votes (41.48%). Philbert G. Toe of the Congress for Democratic Change received 701 (28.45%), independent Francis Saywon Younge Sr. received 529 (21.47%), and independent Marcus Saylee Quenneh received 212 (8.60%).

There were 2,464 valid votes and 137 invalid ballots, for 2,601 total ballots. Because no candidate won the required majority, Chea and Toe advanced to a runoff.

Runoff — 3 August

Christian Snorteh Chea won with 1,731 votes (63.99%), while Philbert G. Toe received 974 (36.01%). The runoff recorded 2,705 valid votes and 56 invalid ballots, for 2,761 ballots cast.
