UN Women Liberia has launched a funding-disbursement phase for women’s savings and farming groups, according to FrontPageAfrica and The Liberian Investigator. Both reports describe a launch in Kakata on Friday, 4 September.

The reports put the initiative at 49 groups with about 1,470 women, supported through a US$167,000 project. The named counties are Montserrado, Bong, Lofa, Margibi, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount and Grand Gedeh.

Support beyond grants

According to the reporting, the project combines financial support with training and mentoring, working with the Women’s Legislative Caucus and CareFound Liberia. Funding comes through the IBSA Fund, supported by India, Brazil and South Africa.

These are reported programme figures, not an independent audit. Check eligibility and participation directly with project organizers; Liberia Civic is not collecting applications.
