Fifteen county seats elected in 2011
On 11 October 2011, Liberia renewed one Senate seat in each of its 15 counties. These were the seats held on six-year terms by the second-place candidates from the 2005 election. Each 2011 winner received a regular nine-year term.

National totals
The NEC recorded 1,283,087 valid and invalid Senate ballots, representing turnout of 71.33% among 1,798,930 registered voters. All 4,457 polling places were reported.

Historical significance
The election completed the transition back to staggered Senate terms established after the entire chamber was elected in 2005. Only one of the fifteen county seats was won by a woman, Geraldine Doe-Sherif of Montserrado.
